The 5-Minute Friday Video That Keeps Clients Happy

Mohammad Orabi·Founder & CEO·5 min read

We send clients a Loom video every Friday. It takes 5 minutes to record. It changes everything about the relationship.

Most agency communication is reactive. Something breaks, you hear from them. Otherwise, silence. You check in. They give you a vague update. You wonder if anything is actually happening.

That is backwards. Good communication is proactive. You should not have to ask what is happening.

What Our Friday Videos Cover

Every Friday, we record a short screen share. No slides, no production value, no prep. Just a quick walkthrough of four things.

  • What we shipped this week. Not "worked on feature X." What you can actually see, click, and test. We screen share and walk through it. Seeing real progress is different from reading about it.
  • What is next. What we are tackling Monday. What is in the queue. So you know the plan without having to ask.
  • Any blockers or questions. If we need a decision, an asset, or access from you, we say it here. No surprises on Monday.
  • How we feel about the timeline. Are we on track? Behind? Ahead? Honest assessment. Not optimistic spin.

That is it. Five minutes. Clients watch it on their own time. Async, but personal. And there is a record. You can go back and see exactly what happened each week. Try doing that with a phone call.

The alternative is status calls. Forty-five minutes of meeting for ten minutes of content. Nobody wants that.

Why Proactive Communication Changes the Dynamic

When clients feel informed, they do not micromanage. When they see progress every week, they trust the process. When they know blockers early, they can help resolve them instead of discovering them after a deadline slips.

Most agency friction is not about quality of work. It is about lack of visibility. Clients do not get anxious because you are behind. They get anxious because they do not know if you are behind. Silence creates anxiety. Proactive updates eliminate it.

We have found that clients who get weekly videos almost never schedule mid-week check-ins. They do not need to. Everything they would ask in a meeting was already covered in the video.

It Costs Almost Nothing

Five minutes to record. Zero minutes of meeting time. No calendar coordination. No "let me pull up the project board" while everyone waits on a call.

The ROI is absurd. Five minutes of recording buys you a week of calm. A week without "just checking in" messages. A week without the client wondering what is happening.

  • Loom (or any screen recorder) is free for short videos.
  • No editing needed. The rough, authentic format builds trust more than polished presentations.
  • Clients can replay, share with stakeholders, and refer back to previous updates.

Whether you run an agency or manage a team, try this for one month. Send a 5-minute video every Friday covering what shipped, what is next, blockers, and timeline status. The reduction in "where are we?" messages will be immediate.

Insurance, Not Overhead

Proactive communication is not extra work. It is insurance. Against misunderstandings. Against scope creep from misalignment. Against the slow erosion of trust that happens when clients feel out of the loop.

The best client relationships are not the ones where nothing goes wrong. They are the ones where everyone knows exactly what is happening at all times.

Five minutes buys you a week of calm. That is the best ROI in any project.
